About WalkOnJams

The Origin Story

In 2025, my son's baseball team wanted to do walk-on music for the finals. Great idea in theory — but it just wasn't feasible using my Spotify Premium account. Even with a playlist of all the kids' selected songs, there's only about 10 seconds for a walk-on to happen. If the song isn't cued perfectly, the slot is over before anything good happens musically — and that's pretty unlikely when every track starts at 0:00! On top of that, some songs had lyrics that definitely weren't appropriate for a kids' baseball game — which is why every walk-on on the site now carries Spotify's “E” (explicit) marker next to its title, so you can spot at a glance whether a song is family-safe.

That same year I got involved with pub-league darts, and the exact same problem existed there. Walk-on music is a huge part of the atmosphere, but getting it right on the fly is nearly impossible with a regular playlist.

And so, WalkOnJams was born — a playlist where each song is perfectly cued to the best moment, associated with player names for ease of use by the operator. No more fumbling with timestamps. No more awkward silences. Just the right music, at the right moment, for every player.

Genre tags on every walk-on are sourced automatically from MusicBrainz, the open music encyclopedia, used under their CC0 license. If you spot a wrong genre, the fix usually starts there — the MusicBrainz community welcomes new editors.

Track playback, search, and the explicit-content marker are powered by Spotify, using credentials you provide via your own Spotify Developer app. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB and is not affiliated with WalkOnJams.
